Pari Mahal

Pari Mahal is amongst the top tourist places to visit in Srinagar. Once the resident of Dara Shikoh, the Mughal Prince in 1600s, Pari Mahal or the Abode of Fairies is adorned with a seven-terraced garden that has a variety of flowering plants, trees, and shrubs for the visitors to see.


The palace that was built to be used as a residence and a library for Dara Shikoh was further used as an observatory to teach astronomy and astrology. In the night, the entire mahal gleams with light and its reflection can be seen on Dal Lake. Dara Sikoh is said to have dedicated this garden to his Sufi teacher, Mullah Shah

Shalimar Garden

Shalimar Bagh is the largest Mughal Garden in Kashmir valley and thus is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Srinagar. Covering an area of 31 acres, this garden once served as the favourite summer destination of Emperor Jahangir and his court. This beautiful masterpiece also popularly known as the 'house of love' was originally called ‘Farah Baksh’, which literally translates to 'delightful'.

Encircled by tall trees of Chinar and many colourful flowers, the Shalimar Bagh presents tourists with a serene environment. It also boasts a beautifully designed canal that runs through the center of the garden, further enhancing its charm.

Chashme Shahi Garden

Chashme Shahi Garden is part of the Mughal Gardens, and is a must-see in Srinagar. The natural spring in this top attraction in Srinagar catches the eyes of the tourists. Believed to have been discovered by great female saint of Kashmir, Rupa Bhawani, the spring got its name from her clan and was originally called 'Chashme Sahibi'.

Tourists visit this attraction in Srinagar to drink the water from the spring which is believed to have medicinal properties. It is to be noted, even in the peak summer season, the water from the spring is always cold.


Shankarcharya Temple

Shankarcharya Temple is amongst the top religious attractions in Srinagar. It is named after the great philosopher Shankarcharya, who once visited Kashmir. The Hindu temple enjoys a strategic location from where devotees and tourists can see a panoramic view of Srinagar City.

Nigeen Lake
